परिचय: - विक्रमशिला विश्वविद्यालय की स्थापना 8वीं ईस्वी के अंत में हुई और 9वीं ईस्वी की शुरुआत में हुई। जिन्होंने शिक्षा के लिए विक्रम शिला विश्वविद्यालय की स्थापना की , पाल वंशीय राजा धरमपाल ने विक्रमशिला विश्वविद्यालय की स्थापना की
विक्रमशिला विश्वविद्यालय कहाँ है: - यह भारतीय राज्य बिहार में स्थित है, बिहार के भागलपुर में है , भागलपुर जिले से विक्रमशिला दूरी लगभग 40 किमी है। विक्रमशिला रेलवे स्टेशन से विक्रमशिला के बीच की दूरी लगभग 5 किमी है। कहलगांव उपखंड के तहत कहलगांव से बौद्ध महाविहार के बीच की दुरी लगभग 15 किमी। विक्रम शिला गंगा नदी के तट पर स्थित है|
विक्रमशिला विश्वविद्यालय का इतिहास:
विक्रमशिला नाम क्यों पड़ा, उस प्रदेश के राजा धरमपाल ने विक्रमशिल की उपाधि धारण की थी जिसके कारण उस महाविद्यलय का नाम विक्रमशिला पड़ा । विक्रमशिला नाम के लिए एक स्थानीय कारण, इस एरिया में एक विक्रम नामक दानव का वध हुआ था , यही कारण है कि उस यूनिवर्सिटी का नाम विक्रमशिला पड़ा । विक्रमशिला प्राचीन समय में शिक्षा का एक अंतरराष्ट्रीय केंद्र था , जो उनके समकक्ष विश्वविद्यालय नालंदा महाविहार और प्राचीन भारत में स्थित अन्नतपुरी महाविद्या था । यह बुद्ध धर्म का एक बहुत प्रसिद्ध शिक्षा केंद्र था । एक समय में 100 से अधिक शिक्षक और एक हजार से अधिक छात्र अलग-अलग देशों जैसे चीन, बर्मा, नेपाल आदि से आते थे स्टडी करने के लिए आते थे ।
विक्रमशिला विश्वविद्यालय में पढ़ने का विषय: - बुद्ध धर्म की शिक्षा, सांस्कृतिक, धार्मिक शिक्षा, व्याकरण का ज्ञान, विज्ञान की शिक्षा, उनके शिक्षक द्वारा दिया जाता था , इस विश्वविद्यालय के कुछ प्रतिष्ठित नाम श्री मित्रा, रत्ना कीर्ति, रत्नाकर शांति के नाम से रखते हैं, जो विक्रमशिला विश्वविद्यालय में बहुत लोकप्रिय हुए प्राचीन समय है।
विक्रमशिला विश्वविद्यालय बौद्धों के लिए: -
यह दुनिया में बौद्धों के लिए एक बहुत प्रसिद्ध शिक्षा केंद्र था | यह बौद्धों के लिए सर्वश्रेष्ठ अध्ययन केंद्रों में से एक था । यह बौद्ध शिक्षा, संस्कृति और धर्म का मुख्य केंद्र था । विक्रमशिला महाविहार का अर्थ है (महाविहार) बौद्धों के लिए एक महान और सबसे बड़ा मठ। इसके अलावा, यह दुनिया में अपने शानदार इतिहास के लिए प्रसिद्ध है,

विक्रमशिला महाविहार की पुरातत्व खुदाई: -विक्रमशिला महावीर का मुख्य स्तूप की खुदाई और 1960 से 1969 तक प्राचीन विक्रमशिला महाविहार की खुदाई का काम पटना विश्वविद्यालय के पुरातत्व विभाग की एक टीम ने किया । 1972 से 1982 भारत सरकार के उत्खनन विभाग, भारतीय पुरातत्व सर्वेक्षण विभाग ने किया ।
विक्रमशिला महाविहार का महत्व: - विक्रमशिला विश्वविद्यालय बौद्ध शास्त्री तारकनाथ के अनुसार, विक्रमशिला महाविहार, राजा चाणक्य (953 ईस्वी से 981AD) के समय में अपने पराकाष्ठा पर था। विक्रमशिला महाविहार बौद्ध, सांस्कृतिक और धर्म का एक अंतरराष्ट्रीय शिक्षा केंद्र था । इस जगह से कई चीजें मिलीं, जैसे बौद्ध और हिंदू धर्मों से संबंधित भगवान की मूर्ति , मिट्टी से बनी चिड़िया और जानवरों की मूर्ति, सोने, तांबे, कांस्य, चांदी, हाथियों की हड्डियों और दांतों से संबंधित सिक्के।
विक्रमशिला महाविहार में दीवार की नक्काशी: - विक्रमशिला महाविहार में दीवार कितने प्रकार की पेंटिंग की गई थी ,विक्रमशिला महाविहार की दीवार पर कई हिंदू भगवान और देवी की संरचना अंकित है , जैसे कि पार्वती, शिव, हनुमान, विष्णु, दीवार पर संरचित थी कई पशु- पक्षी, दीवार पर कई बुद्ध के चित्र संरचित किये गए थे
विक्रमशिला महाविहार का विकास: - इस विश्वविद्यालय को प्राचीन विक्रमशिला महाविहार के तर्ज पर विकसित करने के लिए स्थानीय लोग सार्वजनिक मांग करते आये है । प्रधान मंत्री मोदी ने इस विश्वविद्यालय को विकसित करने के लिए 500 करोड़ रुपये की घोषणा की है । वर्ष 2017 में भारत के राष्ट्रपति प्रणव मुखर्जी ने विक्रमशिला महाविहार का दौरा किया। यह एक बहुत प्रसिद्ध प्राचीन स्थान है, अब यह बिहार का एक बहुत प्रसिद्ध पर्यटक आकर्षण केंद्र है। यहाँ वार्षिक विक्रमशिला महोत्सव फरवरी माह में मनाया जाता है।
